Nic and I went to Canada this weekend. It was so great to get out of town for a little bit. We left Marquette around 6:30 pm, Saturday and got to Canada at Dusk. On the highway to the campground at Agawa Bay, we saw a huge moose on the side of the road about 5 feet from the car. We got into camp pretty late, but set up the tent and made a little fire while the dogs ran around on the beach in the dark.
We woke up early Sunday and made breakfast. Our first stop of the day was the Orphan Lake hiking trail. It was about an 8k trail that went around an inland lake, up on top of a cliff for a scenic outlook, and then down to the mouth of a river that dumps into Lake Superior. We saw some great waterfalls, beaver, and enjoyed to great hiking. It took us just over 2.5 hours to complete the hike. Then we drove up to Wawa for lunch. the town wasn’t too impressive, and neither was the food….On the way back to camp we stopped off at Old Woman Bay to snap some pictures. Then we went down to the Agawa Pictographs. We couldn’t hav asked for better weather this weekend. It was in the 60’s during the day, the lake was very calm and the sun was shining the entire time. After the pictographs, we went back to camp and napped on the hammocks. we had a nice fire that night and a great dinner overlooking the sunset on the bay.
Monday, we woke up and hiking up the Sand River to check out the falls. Then we went down to Pancake Bay for lunch and headed home đŸ˜¦
