Whoa. I keep forgetting to update and post photos.

Nic and I went to Mackinac Island the last weekend in June. We stayed overnight at Straits State Park in St. Ignace. Beautiful campground! I reserved a site right on the straits and we had a fire with the Mighty Mac glowing in the background.  Continue reading

Another Busy Summer

The reason that I have not been posting as often, isn’t because I don’t have things to share. In fact, it has been the opposite. I have so much going on! 2014 is turning out to be one of those whirlwind years. Continue reading

Backyard Chickens

As if Michigan does not have enough B.S. going on in Lansing, the Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development just took away our Right to Farm. What does this mean? If you have an urban OR rural farm and your local zoning laws prohibit it, you are now unprotected by the Right to Farm Act. Say goodbye to chickens, goats, and bees. This is big.

February and the beginning of March have been full of some great adventures. I have had almost every weekend off from the restaurant that I work at because it has been so slow. And I am not one to sit at home on my days off. So my friend Megan and I decided to go on an adventure to the ice caves of Grand Island. Continue reading

The Last of the Fall Colors

My parents came up to Marquette last weekend to help me finish my basement. We put drywall up to make a basement bedroom. It will be very small, but enough room to fit a twin bed. Nic is also making one of the walls into a climbing wall. It was a lot of work but it feels good to have it done.

We took a break from the construction on Sunday to drive up to Big Bay. The dogs got to run free in the woods and we had a good couple hikes. The drive back along County Road 510 was beautiful.

Summer has come to an abrupt end. The temps are dropping, my garden is harvested and the foliage is in full autumn mode. My friend, Megan, and I went up to the Keweenaw Peninsula to do a little sightseeing last weekend. *I apologize for the massive amount of pictures in this post!
