The reason that I have not been posting as often, isn’t because I don’t have things to share. In fact, it has been the opposite. I have so much going on! 2014 is turning out to be one of those whirlwind years. Continue reading
February and the beginning of March have been full of some great adventures. I have had almost every weekend off from the restaurant that I work at because it has been so slow. And I am not one to sit at home on my days off. So my friend Megan and I decided to go on an adventure to the ice caves of Grand Island. Continue reading
When I was in my senior year of high school (2004), we had an exchange student from Peru stay with us for 6 weeks. It was a program run through my Spanish class. Her name was Claudia and she was an only child from the busy city of Lima. I think coming to small Boyne City in Northern Michigan was a bit of a shock to her. She loved the snow and we really enjoyed having her around. The following summer, after my Freshman year of college, I went to Peru to visit her for 2 months. It is still one of my fondest memories. My parents came up to Marquette last weekend to help me finish my basement. We put drywall up to make a basement bedroom. It will be very small, but enough room to fit a twin bed. Nic is also making one of the walls into a climbing wall. It was a lot of work but it feels good to have it done.
We took a break from the construction on Sunday to drive up to Big Bay. The dogs got to run free in the woods and we had a good couple hikes. The drive back along County Road 510 was beautiful.

Summer has come to an abrupt end. The temps are dropping, my garden is harvested and the foliage is in full autumn mode. My friend, Megan, and I went up to the Keweenaw Peninsula to do a little sightseeing last weekend. *I apologize for the massive amount of pictures in this post! I think all of that complaining that I did about the lack of snow we have, has caught up to me! We sure do have it now in the UP! I keep shoveling off the back porch, but the dogs refuse to go off it into the deep snow in the backyard. They have now taken to peeing off/on the porch Not too happy about that! Nic and I went back country skiing last night with the dogs and they could barely walk through the snow. I’m so sore from shoveling!
